The Indian Institute of Advanced Study in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, is a famous research center founded by the Indian Ministry of Education in 1964. It officially started operating on October 20, 1965, and is located in the historic Rashtrapati Niwas, which was originally the home of Lord Dufferin, the Viceroy of India, in the late 1800s.
